Tiktok Return to India: Is TikTok Coming Back to India? Here’s the Truth Behind the Viral Claim

Social media has been buzzing with claims that TikTok is making a comeback to India — but is it true?. Both the Government of India and ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, have confirmed that the app remains banned in the country.

The rumours began after some users reported being able to access TikTok’s website without using a VPN.

However, a senior official from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) clarified that these reports are “false and misleading.” The official stated, “We have not unblocked or done anything to change TikTok’s status.”

TikTok, which was banned in June 2020 under Section 69A of the IT Act, remains banned along with several other Chinese-linked apps over concerns related to data privacy and national security.

A spokesperson for ByteDance also confirmed that the company has made no move to restore access, saying, “We continue to comply with the Government of India’s directive, and TikTok remains unavailable in India.”

Despite the temporary glitch, the TikTok mobile app is still unavailable on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store in India. Users attempting to access the app continue to receive the message: “Our services aren’t available in your country or region.”
